Welcome to Bitche!

Monday, December 15th, 2008

We found ourselves driving into the first town that we came along to on our excursion to “somewhere in France”. It was Bitche.
We went to the tourism office to see what there was to see and do in this small town. The lady behind the counter gave us a friendly, “Welcome to Bitche!” I had thought that maybe, just maybe the town’s name was pronounced- Bitchay- sounded French to me, but no, it was in fact pronounced just as it was, Bitche (silent e) The lady kept telling us of all the events and attractions of Bitche (she kept saying that word over and over) but unfortunately, we were there on a Monday and all attractions were closed on Mondays.
We settled on window shopping and finding a pastry shop to satisfy our need for famous french pastries… they are, in fact, as mouth watering and as wonderful as they are famous for. Check out more photos by clicking on the photo tab at the top of this page then double click on Bitche, France album to see all that we saw there.
I did find a wonderful cup (for my collection) and when we are asked about our trip to France… we just smile and say, “It was a Bitche!”

What an awesome world in which we live!

We just returned from our whirlwind tour of Germany, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Ireland, and return to Spain. The sights, smells, people, weather, and of course the food were amazing! We ate pastries in France, saw castles and ate schnitzel in Germany-don’t even get me started on the Autobahn, drove through Luxembourg to get to Belgium (for the chocolates), screamed while the kids laughed at me all the way through Ireland (that whole driving on the left is a heart pounder), then finally arriving back home with such sweet memories with my family. We enjoyed the wind, rain, hail, snow - oh yes, more rain and more snow-the entire time we were visiting.

Many of you have already called asking, “When do we get to see the pictures?” Over 2000 photos were taken on this little expedition, so in time they will be posted. Thank you for your prayers for our safety while we were traveling. Davinci can rest now that we are home with him!
